🏆 Metro 2039 Leads the gamescom award 2026 Nominations

The organizers of Gamescom have announced the nominees for the annual gamescom award 2026, and Metro 2039 has emerged as one of the biggest titles of the show.

The new Metro game received five nominations — more than any other individual game this year.

Metro 2039 is nominated in the following categories:

• 🎨 Best Visuals
• 💥 Most Epic
• 🟩 Best Microsoft Xbox Game
• 🖥 Best PC Game
• 🎮 Best Sony PlayStation Game

For comparison, the closest competitors — Alien: Isolation 2 and Denshattack! — received four nominations each.

One interesting detail: despite receiving five nominations, Metro 2039 was not nominated for Best Gameplay. The games competing in that category include Alien: Isolation 2, Cairn, Denshattack!, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, and The Blood of Dawnwalker.

However, it is still far too early to draw conclusions about the quality of Metro 2039’s gameplay. Very soon, we should start seeing the first detailed impressions from journalists and Gamescom attendees who will be able to play the game themselves.

🗳 When will the winners be announced?

The winners are selected by a combination of a professional jury and community voting. Voting begins on August 26, while the gamescom award 2026 winners will be announced on August 28 during the awards ceremony at Gamescom.

Five nominations do not guarantee any wins, but Metro 2039 is entering Gamescom with a very strong showing.

Now we wait to see how many awards it can actually take home.
